Finally starting to get some consistency in my runs' at the Park. Up to about 5 miles per day. Some guy went flying by me yesterday morning, cranking out in the low 5's. Frustrating for sure when you are on the back end of that. However I have to remind myself that I'm not even looking to be competitive until this time next year.
Trying to eat better at the moment. Lots of cottage cheese in the AM, some greek yogurt, brown rice and black beans with some chicken and replacing much of my caffeine intake with good ol water.
No idea what the half will be like in a little over 2 months but I feel better about it than 2 weeks ago. Believe I'm at the point where I can start adding about 1mile a week to 1-2 runs as my recovery gets better. I'm walking around with dead legs all the time.
Tested out a pair of Puma Faas 500. A nice shoe for tempo's and roadwork or if you just like a shoe that helps, for me at least, keep the cadence up there. The rocker does a good job of pulling you through the footstrike and off the toe quickly. At my current size, just can't use them daily as they beat me up too much, but once a week is good.
