A possible purpose?

Today I did something but good and stupid, typical male stuff. I registered for the Platte River Half, www.platteriverhalf.com.

Always wanted to run it and this year seemed like as good as any, so why not? Well because I'm in zero shape. Not the way fit athletes talk about being "out" of shape. I'm fat, slow and have no base.

Did something similar a few years ago while living in Dallas. Was running about 3-5/mi day for a few weeks. Then I ran 7 miles on Thursday and 6 miles on Friday. On Sat AM I was running a half marathon with my 2 longest runs the 2 days prior. Worked out relatively ok, minus the soreness for a few days and finished just over 2:00. Slow, but for where I was at, totally fine.

I'm hoping this helps me get the day to day consistency needed to get back into some semblance of shape, other than "round." I don't miss a day, I miss a week and if a week...a month. I ran on the 2 single digit days after the big snow in December, but barely since.

Time to get to work, still a little bit of time left in today and the park should be nice and empty just how I like it!

See you on the roads
